It has been idling poorly, so I replaced the throttle idle servo and that seems to do the trick. My check engine light is gone as well. They may have been connected.

Is that a mostly stock evo? Well done if so. Talk about a modern survivor...

Hey Mister, how are you and yours holding up? Work must be bizarro right now.

That is a good looking ride

Yes. Right before I bought my STi, one of my college buddies bought an Evo ...7? whichever was the first available in the US. FANTASTIC steering rack, one of my favorites of all time.
I chose the STi mainly because the inside of those first EVOs is BAD, secondly because EVOs were really hard to get and I didn’t want the same car.

We are doing well. Thank you very much for asking. I hope you and yours are doing well .
Work is extra crazy bizarro. Yesterday was my last day in engineering after 22 years. Monday I start in the HR team. I was supposed to be leading a group working on big backbone stuff, but I will now be smack in the middle of all the C-19 stuff. This was all brewing before everything went nuts. It will be a great opportunity to serve those I work with and to learn a lot very fast.

It is. I upgraded the radiator when the original OEM one failed, but otherwise it’s stock. 183k miles and counting.

Thanks. I love it.

it’s true. I’m biased since I’ve had it for almost 17 years now! Great driving car. Fairly easy to work on. Robust if you take care of it. Not huge power for today, but will do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. As Tripper mentioned, the interior isn’t plush, but the seats are the best I’ve ever sat in.

I remember that you were casting about for a new assignment, possibly. Good luck on that. How are you and your family set for cloth masks?

We are doing ok. We also really haven’t been going out much. Makes things easier.

I’ve been making some and sending them out. Do you need any?

I rode in one at an autocross when they were new, maybe 2005 or 2006. It was brutally quick.

Daaaamnn! Well done sir.
I just got rid of my 350Z after about 14 years of ownership without modifying it (other than wider front tires.
) It’s still in my family though (father in law) so it’ll probably come back to me in the next decade or so. Luckily he doesn’t plan on modifying it much either.
Finding stock performance cars from the mid 2000's is already low key hard. And if i’m being perfectly honest more than half of the modifications people did back then
made their vehicles worse IMHO. The Evo was an amazing car stock, likely the best of the bunch. I wish more people had appreciated the time and effort that went into tuning that chassis from the factory.

Yeah, I looked at the car and did some reading on what the Mitsubishi engineers were doing, they actually published research papers, and had a hard time believing that mid ‘00s tuner shop dude bros had a better handle on things. That and I drove it to work everyday until 2007 when we had kids. My wife then used it to haul them around. Fastest soccer mom at the field. :)

I could not possibly accept any money from you for these. I’ll try to get them out to you in tomorrow’s mail. Will you shoot me an email so we can arrange mailing? oliphant.chuckerbutty@gmail.com
